Spouse of Indonesian Visa (E31A) – For Foreigners Married to Indonesians
If you are legally married to an Indonesian citizen, you are eligible to apply for a Spouse of Indonesian Visa (E31A), commonly known as a Family KITAS. The Spouse of Indonesian Visa (E31A) is a limited stay permit (KITAS) sponsored by your Indonesian husband or wife.
This visa allows you to live legally in Indonesia based on your marriage. It is one of the most stable and long-term residence options available for foreign nationals married to Indonesian citizens.
This visa is typically valid for 1 year and can be extended annually. After 2 years of marriage (if continuously registered), you may be eligible to apply for a Permanent Stay Permit (KITAP).
Spouse of Indonesian KITAS holders are not allowed to work in Indonesia or receive income from Indonesian companies but they can apply for Working Permit from Manpower Department under Indonesian company who hire them to work and required to pay monthly contributions USD 100/month in the DKP-TKA (Development Funds in Exchange of hiring a foreign worker).

Activities Not Allowed with Spouse of Indonesian Visa (E31A)
- Staying in Indonesia over the period of your stay permit, engaging in prohibited activities, not complying with visa conditions, and/or not complying with Indonesian laws may result in you paying fines, being deported, and/or other legal charges.
- Selling goods or services.
- Working by receiving compensation, wages, or any similar from individuals or companies in Indonesia, unless reported to immigration and get working permit.
WHAT IS THE REQUIREMENTS FOR Spouse of Indonesian Visa APPLICATION?
Spouse Document Requirement:
- Birth Certificate.
- ID Card (KTP with marriage status).
- Family Register (Kartu Keluarga).
- Bank Statement (at least 3 months).
- Marriage Certificate or Marriage Book.
- Latest color photograph.
Applicant Document Requirement:
- Valid Nationality Passport at least 6 (six) months.
- Proof of living expenses of at least US$2000 (two thousand American dollars) or equivalent.
- Evidence that the foreigner has lawfully married such as:
- If the marriage is conducted outside the Indonesian Territory:
- Proof of reporting or regisration at the Indonesian Mission or at the authorized agency in Indonesia, and a marriage certificate that has been translated into Bahasa Indonesia by a sworn translator except written in English; or
- If the marriage is conducted in the Indonesian Territory:
- Marriage book or marriage certificate issued by an authorized ministry or institution.
